The BM Vallá Anniversary Concert

The BM Vallá Anniversary Concert which was held during the Akureyri Summer Arts Festival in August 2006 is now available on DVD. This was an openair concert which took place in Akureyri's Listagil Artistic Quarter. The North Iceland Symphony Orchestra's performance was conducted by Guðmundur Óli Gunnarsson.

Vocal soloists appearing with the orchestra were Arndís Halla Ásgeirsdóttir, Sigríður Aðalsteinsdóttir, Kolbeinn Ketilsson, Ólafur Kjartan Sigurðarson and Kristinn Sigmundsson. This concert was also held in Reykjavík the previous week as part of the Reykjavík Culture Week. The DVD is an excellent memento of this concert especially as this occasion was the first time in Iceland that a concert involving 60 musicians had been held in the open air.

The DVD is available in the Penninn bookshop, Akureyri and all the proceeds will go to the orchestra's instrument fund which was founded in memory of Karl Petersen, one of the pioneers for the establishment of the SN. The DVDs are a gift from BM Vallá and for this we wish to extend our heartfelt thanks for their very generous contribution.
